Rachel Z. Meyer - Collage Artist
I have been making art for as long as I can remember, and in 2018 I graduated with a BA in studio art from Macalester College. I mainly work in mixed media collage, ink, and printmaking mediums but like to continuously experiment. I like to make art that is whimsical, fun, or nostalgic and find nature, astronomy, physics, and mathematics inspiring. When collaging, I use found or repurposed papers and materials such as book pages, sand paper, tissue paper from gifts, old plane tickets, thread scraps, brads, and much more. I had a solo show, Sojourning, and exhibited work for Holding Space, a joint show with local artist Shauna Schramke. I have shown work in juried exhibitions, with the Ohio Art League, Piqua Arts Council, Springfield Museum of Art, Fitton Arts Center, and Dayton Society of Artists, among others. It is important to me to make art that is relatable to all kinds of people.
Outside of work I practice MMA, swim, kayak, write, and hang out with my dog, Spice.
I also do location sound for film! If you’d like to learn more about my audio work check out my site here!
